The renovation of a landmark, 1870's South Lyon, MI building in a thriving mixed-use development included the upscale dining of Dua Vino on the first and 3rd floor with private business offices between. The mezzanine level was completely eliminated to give the first level dining room the high ceiling volume and to create clearance for the kitchen equipment hvac equipment runs in the ceiling space. The owner wanted the original basement as usable space but the was restricted by the low ceiling height. To address this the team undercut the basement footings in 36" foot sections one by one, lowering the basement to meet accessibility standards.
